Avoid these during a negotiation

In a professional negotiation, how you communicate matters. Here are two things to avoid:

1. Forcing a decision
Phrases like “We need your answer now” can create pressure and break trust.
Try instead: “Take the time you need — we’re here to help if any questions come up.”

2. Ending with “We’ll get back to you”
This sounds vague and non-committal. It weakens your position.
Try instead: “We’ll follow up by Friday with next steps.”
→ It shows professionalism and keeps momentum.

Great leaders don’t rush or disappear — they guide negotiations with clarity and respect. Make sure to share with your colleagues!
